I read that US DOT gives states the right to enforce or ignore DOT for local boys under 26K. Indiana is a state that turns a blind eye to the small guy. No IN DOT # on many small trucks.
Only one time have I seen an Indiana State Cop in a pickup (our new INDOT officer) on US41. He had a semi pulled over that just left a Loves truck stop. I have NEVER seen INDOT officers stop small trucks and trailers under 26k. I have seen a guy that lives in the neighborhood that is way over the 26k pulling a large bobcat. No numbers on his very old 10k dump trailer.
I've never been stopped in the past. I rarely haul my tractors anymore.
