With this information I suspect that the plastic shroud moved and came out of place relative to an adjacent part, and that it will, upon removal, come free of the interference and go back into place, and it will also release the interference with a control rod that is keeping your Branson stuck in gear. After a few more hours on the heating pad get that shroud off then back in place and get it back to work!
