It looks like a flat roller chain clip but doesnt have the split in it. But that is the closest thing to what it looks like!
If I blow up the pic on my iPad and reading your other messages I can slightly see some of the coils you mention, but would not guess that without your comments.
So, that is some small squarish rectangular, not round, small spring? Doesnt look like it in the one picture at first glance!
It would help to have that info early on. Then we can help you better.
