The wild plum tree we had on the farm in the pasture gave us plums that were smaller than a Banty egg. They were juicy, sweet, and succulent. Mom made great jam with those plums. Conversely she could go to Jerrys Market and get plums bigger than oranges that we could play ball with and tasted like the wash rag from the milk house, but the general public knows them as plums.
Look at a wild apple tree and a what is sold for apple trees at the nursery and you can see the difference.
