Mark, are you adding a PS pump also, or tapping into the tractor hydraulics? If you are adding a pump, and it's a closed system, you probably are OK without a filter. How many automotive power steering systems have a filter? Just a pump and reservoir, an orbital valve, and an actuating cylinder. Probably a screen on the suction side of the reservoir, before the pump. Most of those systems run a max of 1000psi, and a max of about 4 GPM. That probably equates to a filter head with 3/8 or 1/2 NPT inlet and outlet, with, or without a bypass in the head, or in the filter. I'm working on a Massey Ferguson 245 full hydraulic steering right now, and the orbital valve on this tractor has 3/8 inside diameter on all its hoses. I'll plumb my suction and return to reservoir with 1/2, but that's probably overkill. Steve
