Yeah -you are so right! I too was tough. No masks when working in the grain bins shoveling. Smoked too. Not as much as others but 1/2 to 1 pack a day. Also, ran an open station Gleaner for years combining, picked corn with a mounted picker, never had a tractor with a cab working ground or baling. I quit smoking aver 20 years ago when I was diagnosed with beginning COPD but came down with lung cancer anyway two years ago. I was lucky, it was caught very early. I had 1/2 of my left lung removed and have had no other cancer issues. But I huff and puff a lot. I tell others that they need to mask up, quit the smoking and pay attention to what they are breathing in. It is no fun catching colds all of the time and having to fight for air with pulmonary infections. I still am active, but my breathing has slowed me down.
