In the 1960's when I was doing electrical wiring in the evenings I ran 300 feet of wire from an old far house to a barn for a milker, the attic had single wires running to the different drops in the walls. I hooked into the main run from the service box. I tried to talk the guy into a new service entrance so I could run a barn circuit. No dice! It never burned down. the barn was taken down first and a few years later they bulldozed the house. It is all far land now.
