The original question has been answered, and Im not sure if the emergency generator youre ordering is a standby or so called whole house generator, but if it isnt, you should strongly consider that option. Unless Im mistaken, you are 70+ and the standby generator will work whether youre able to get out of the house or not. It also will likely run on propane and therefore have no difficulties with gas going bad or not starting because the battery is dead because it will have a built in charger and run an exercise cycle every week or two. The transfer switches frequently have the ability to shed load if needed and you can add a second transfer switch so it can run a barn or shop if your service doesnt come to the house first as is frequently the case on a farm. Some of them even operate and send data via your smartphone. Yes, its more expensive, but it might be an important factor in being able to stay at your place longer as you become less able or even if your just temporarily laid up due to an injury or whatnot.
