Grant welcome to YT! Does the starter grind and not engage to crank the engine? Does it require multiple tries to get it to engage? When it is engaging does it sound bad or in other words have a grinding or growling you normally do not hear compared to other automotive or other tractors when they are starting? Do you hear any grinding or scraping sounds coming from the starter area while it is running? Any of the proceeding symptoms may indicate problems. On most old tractors it is not real difficult to remove the starter. Also fter a couple dozen starts pull the starter out and look at the starter drive and the flywheel gears if you see undue wear you need to do something to correct the problem.
