My 80 year old friend came down off he mountain yesterday and we started putting his JD L engine back together. This was his Dad's tractor. Has a 9 HP Hercules 2 banger engine We honed the cylinders last week and lapped the valves and got them adjusted. We fitted the main bearings and the rod bearings, got the head back on and made a gasket for the cast iron pan. We have pressed the new throwout clutch bearing into the carrier and adapted 2 thin new front seals to replace the old thick worn out leather seal on the crankshaft. Thank goodness for a shop and heated place to work as it was cold and windy yesterday. Gonna get back on it one day next week during the monsoon we have coming all week. Richard in NW SC
