Try it. A 3" cylinder with 1,000 PSI pressure will develope up to (approx.) 7,000# of lift capacity. The same cylinder under 2250psi will develope up to (approx.) 15,750# of lift.If the old cylinder will handle that much additional pressure,(if needed) it will work just fine.Any cylinder will only develope enough pressure to meet the demands of the load---until it reaches the end of its stroke.
