It's dangerous to disagree with John on anything case, but we do on either for our cases. I've been starting them myself since at least 1970 and so has most of my family and all our pre 70 series cases have a can of either in them. I don't know of any cracked heads on tractors unless they came that way. Cases Crack heads when you shut them down hot. Now case tractors from 69 on up dontneed either unless they are tired.
That said, use as little as possible and make sure the tractor is cranking before you add it. I start cranking the engine and once smoke starts coming out I give them a shot. Usually doesn't take much. Any that I use in the winter get a good tank heater that circulates the coolant so they are warm as well. But on the ld cases even that is sometimes not enough and either is needed.
