Good friend, you are working to hard. Let it set with some brake fluid in it. Forget the big hammer. You can make your own press to push down on the piston by using the existing bolts. make a plate to put on 2 or four of them, I would prefer using 4, put a bottle jack in the cylinder with a good piece of steel between the ram and piston and pump. A bull nose on a long stroke air hammer is also useful.
