These are probably the worst brake setup that they have. I try to use the 14k gooseneck trailer when possible as it will lock up the wheels.. the gd10k brakes have been totally rebuilt, and still barely show any slowing. Even ran 10ga wire separate to both axles to see if that would help. Still looking for someone to come up with a fix??? So far it seems you must TOTALLY replace them with electric over hydraulic disc, to make them work?? AS I have upgraded trucks over the years, the trucks themselves have greatly improved braking under max load, but not the 25k trailer. my 2013 f350 dually rated for 27500lb trailer does at least a respectable job, with the automatic engine brakes... Where the 2002 dodge was a joke, and pretty scary.... but again, was not rated anywhere near that weight of trailer. If anyone can come up with a fix for the dexter gd10k, I am all ears.
