I maintain our village cemetery. The cemetery has four WWII soldiers that were killed in action. One missing in action. One killed in battle and two died at sea when their battle ships were hit.
None of them have family in the area. I save flowers from the previous memorial day and put them on their graves. If anyone deserves a.flower it's those four guys!
Moms uncle was the.first in the county to be drafted. He faught the Nazis and came home with two purple hearts and several other medals. Never spoke of the war until late in life. The things he witnessed are unbelievable.
