I have a friend who owned vines and worked with a big grape grower. This is one of about seven harvesters he took us to see. Talking to a driver and he was telling us that they work 24 hours a day harvesting grapes for wine, his job is not too bad apart from everything getting covered with juice. He just straddles a row and goes. The person with the worst job is the man running the catcher which is a train of three four wheeled bins that go between the vines. Some rows are over a mile long and at night, with windscreens plaster with grape juice, it gets hard to see where the harvester is. If the catcher gets in the wrong row he cannot reverse out easily.
