Hello SC welcome to YT! No expert but in my opinion if it moves fine in reverse then it is probably not the fluid level, although it is worth checking. As Shaun alludes to when he says spool that means ..spool valve.. If you have a shuttle shift which changes direction by one lever that is likely done by a clutch pack. It is a possibility that an oring or seal that holds pressure to apply the forward clutch just decided to spring a leak at that moment. Hopefully someone will be along with a more precise direction to proceed. I am going to bet it involves some troubleshooting by using a pressure gauge.
