Britain has a long coastline with Lifeboat Rescue boats stationed around it. Some are small rubber boats, some have hovercraft and some have boats like this one. Back in the day the boats used to be launched by manual labour or horses, but Roadless Traction pioneered the use of crawler tractors in the 1920's. The tractors drive into the sea and are waterproof to a depth of around 12 feet.
This service is a charity and is manned by very brave men who go out in all conditions.
