It's been a long time since I was inside a 420 distributor. Could you be talking about a screw that is used to adjust the point gap. If it is that type of screw, it is only used to open or close the point gap before tightening the point set mounting screw. That eccentric screw does not tighten down - it is what you could call a ''built in'' tool to make fine adjustments to the point gap. After having said all that, I'm not certain that the 420 has that type of eccentric screw in the distributor.
