We just used blue denim from a fabric store that close were made of. The mettal caps for the arms we had to figure something out as the arms would just poke thru the denim so I tool 22 empty bird shot cartriges and we just sewd them into folds of the corners where the arms went and they worked perfectly. This was probably between 30 and 40 years ago.
