I need to re-rope my two Skinner mow conveyor systems. The 600 feet of new 1/4 rope has a diameter of .200. Amazingly, the rope that came with the system in 1988 measures .250. Is this just to be expected, like 6 ply tires that don't have 6 plies, rough cut 2X4's that aren't 2X4, and half gallons of ice cream that are 1.5 qt?
Bonus round: If anyone has tales to tell of the late, great Mr. Skinner or his inventions, feel free to hijack this thread.
