I used to not mind the self-checkout as much since it was just an option. You could use it if you chose to. Now it's not much of an option anymore. There is only 1-2 lanes open with a cashier, and those have really long lines. At the Walmart I go to, they tore out a bunch more of the traditional checkout lines to put more self-checkout stations in. When they did the renovation, I believe they made some updates and the sensitivity on the scanner is cranked way up. So about a third of the items I scan ring up twice, so an attendant has to come over and clear one out. It really extends the check-out time.
