May be better than using the factory hitch with a riser insert. Even on my HD2500 the tongue weight was partially supported by the bumper. I have a tri axel I haul hay on, and I bent the factory hitch. I replaced it with a hitch with a 2500-pound tongue rating that is not attached to the bumper.
