Don't muck with the cutout spring tension or gap unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing and have the correct cut in and out voltage ''specs'' at hand.
If the cutout points don't open when generator output drops below battery voltage at idle they aren't going to open at shutdown, resulting in the $moke being let out of the generator and a dead battery.
