Most popular is annual. It is sold as annual but it's a prolific re-seeder. I have a thick stand annually and decided as a result to double crop. I bale the Rye when I can get a dry window in the Spring and in early summer when my summer hay crops are maturing I bale then. The Rye dies out about the time the summer crop starts producing.
To get rid of it naturally you have to stop the reseeding process for a couple of years.....no seeds, no crop the next year, and the following year a light crop and the 3rd year you should be rid of it.
