I have a John Deere 1219 mowing conditioner. Two of the long metal guards that bolt in front of the pickup teeth on the reel are bet up bad and have started to crack and bend. Would it be okay to take them off and run the mower without them? They were beat up like this when I bought the mower for cheap. I have no rocks in my field so Im not worried about that, just want to make sure it will be fine to run without them. And to be clear again, its the long solid metal guards that bolt onto the reel in front of the pickup tines.
