Yes they are serviced. I get bushings and brushes from Napa. Cost about 20 I test the armature with vom . Test field coils I have my son turn the armature commutator on a lathe just enough to get clean up . I put in new bendix spring assem. Sometimes Also the condition of the ring gear has much to do with the starter locking up. They always stop at the same spot ,so most of the wear is at one or two places I say suggestion is rebuild it . Have not found one that we could not redo .
