for the hand pump/steering motor, is timed so need to mark things and keep them in order or it can do strange things if out of time. At least on our 574 this was the case when we had the motor apart for deeper leaks than the seal at the top end behind the steering wheel. I think it was for the band on the bottom end of the motor/hand pump. This was for removing the end cap for the replacement.
