my dad had a 684 and the steering stuck on it. the piston in the steering cylinder is only a press fit and it sometimes moves on the shaft. after it did this a couple times the mechanic at the shop put a small bead from a welder on each side of the piston and that prettymuch cured it. we later had an 895 and all those tractors are pretty much the same so one manual should cover them all
