There's no true "standard" for universal joints so it's a matter of:
A. Knowing what you have.
-or in absence of that-
B. Matching it up, and then remembering what you have.
This is where local in-person interaction is a bonus. Any local farm equipment dealer can match most PTO universals unless it is some proprietary size. Then you have to either replace the whole driveline with something standard, or get a factory part.
MANY, perhaps even most, PTO universals are either Weasler or based on the Weasler "standard." Especially older ones. In this case it was their "Series 35." Other common ones are Series 6 and Series 12.
