If I understand you, you are wanting something hanging out to each side that you will be able to see in your mirrors so that you will know where your tailer is when you are backing. Many guys use a flexible two foot long fiberglass rod that is made to mount in the top surface of a bumper of a truck. They are often yellow, but I have seen plenty that are orange. They are permanently mounted on a lot of trailed equipment such as a chipper. They don't need to flip in because they are not over width.
