I remember when my brother & I were young. Dad would say get the loader and move that feed bunk. My brother & I would say getting the loader was too much work so we just pick up the feed bunk and run to the new location with it. Now we get the loader. If a piece of iron needed bending, we would bend it by hand or worst case we would put it in a vise and hammer it without heating it. Now we use heat and/or the press. We would talk Dad into buying us a pair of #14 scoop shovels so we could empty the grain bin faster. Now we use gravity bins. We would grab the bottom of a pile of boards, iron, or almost anything so we could move it in one load by hand. Now we put most things on a pallet so we can use the fork lift. I dug a well water pump pit for Dad by hand when I was in high school. I just dug one with a 3 foot auger on a Bobcat. If I do have anything heavy, that can not be moved any other way but by hand, I make sure I have friends with high school boys that have to prove how strong they are. Kind of fun to watch them, as I have forgotten how easy it was for me to do things back then, that they do with little effort now.
