I've got two Belarus tractors. The 1978 sits outside all the time and runs great. It's had a rough life but has been dependable for me. Simple to maintain. Crude, perhaps. Beautiful, no! The newer on has had hyd. leaks that I've failed to bother to track down. Due to poorly marked battery cables ( a red one goes to - ground and a gray and black one is +)I managed to short out the glowplug circuit, that resulted in over cranking the starter in sub-zero weather, spoiling the starter. I've got 750 hours on it without other troubles. Parts come quickly from Millwalki,Wis. Belarus is the worlds largest tractor factory. If you're woried about buying from a country that is in political turmoil, have you checked out the political turmoil in the US? (that's a joke)Anyway, the problems in Belarus haven't effected the production of quality tractors. If you're worried, don't buy one, however I'd really rather they were busy making tractors than bombs.
