This Grain Elevator is located at Mile 0 of the Alcan / Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek British Columbia Canada.
The Elevator was moved and refurbished as a Tourist information site and the home of local Art works.
Shortly after Peril Harbour was bombed, the USA sent Engineering Troops to Dawson Creek to commence the construction of the infrastructure from Dawson Creek to Alaska. Road, Bridges, Telegraph, Airports, etc.
The Rail arrived in Dawson Creek Canada in 1930..
The Elevator is visible in the Black & White pic. with the USA Army Soldiers at Rail .
My Father was 14 Yeras of age when the pic was taken with the USA Soldiers.. My Mother-in-law was born not far from the site of the USA Army soldiers in 1920. She passed away after turning 100 years of age... As a young boy, I would ride with my Uncle in his 1947 Ford three ton to drop off Grain at this elevator.. Bob..
