Hello all! I am new here and I have a problem with my 110 John Deere garden tractor. My dad had rigged an ammeter up on this machine but it and the starter/generator burned up. Not at the same time tho. I bought a new starter, regulator, and rewired the tractor back to what I've found in a forum to be the correct wiring diagram. My problem is when I crank the tractor, the starter stays engaged till I either get the battery disconnected or the battery dies. I thought possibly the relay was staying engaged and I had a new one so I put it on, but to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get to get this thing running again. It was my dad's and now mine and I want to keep it running. He said it was a 1965 model, but I do not know that for certain.
