Thinking back to my days working in the maint. dept. for an oilfield service company, I have a recollection of a driver pulling into the yard at the end of the day with smoke rolling out of the brakes on the tri-axle trailer he was pulling. When asked "WTF are you doing?" he responded with "I thought it was pulling a bit harder than normal but just figured the tractor was gutless so whatever....." A co-worker jumped in the truck cab & found the trailer spike partially pulled down.....

Melted the wheel seals & outboard s-cam bushings right out of it! Not sure how it didn't catch on fire actually? I remember having to spray it down with the pressure washer prior to working on it.
