I pulled a 28' JD 960 field cultivator with a 3 bar spring harrow on it, 80 miles with 4wd Dodge regular cab diesel. I weigh about 220 and I couldn't push the tongue down standing on it. I added 600 lbs. of front weights not sure how much it helped. I had no trouble pulling it 35-40, over 45 it started to get squirrelly. I have no idea what the negative hitch weight would be for the planter. I'm not sure you'd need any more than I used but you can always take more it won't hurt.
