Thank you for that very interesting story. I had no idea. Just saying Don Knotts or Barney Fife makes me laugh. I have had the opportunity to survey many sheriff offices in the course of my communication work over the past 40+ years. The one thing I almost always see in a sheriffs office is a picture of Barney. The one time I didnt see his picture, I asked where it was? The whole sheriffs staff started laughing. One of the deputies said they didnt need a picture of Barney as another deputy stepped in my view that looked just like Barney.
