Over a year ago, my ISP changed their email format over to Google for a variety of reasons (I never understood any of the reason other than Telus wanted out). So that would be Telus up here, they had a good format an I liked it. When they switched over to Google, my email address stayed the same (with the Telus name in) but it used the GMail format. When I open up my Telus email account, I actually see the GMail format on my screen. I soon found out that one must e VErY careful with what most of us (and most providers) refer to as FILES where you might want to store some email or an email with a document, etc. The problem with GMail is that those are not really files, but simply LABELS which you attach to emails you think you are saving or storing. Problem is, there is only one real copy of that email. So if you say forward the email to someone else or reply to it, the email shows up in the sent file as well. So then you might choose to store the original which seems fine, until you clean out your sent files. If you clear out the email from there that you thought you were storing elsewhere, too bad for you .... the stored file disappears. If you Google the problem, you will see countless posts and forums where people are enraged about that so-called storage feature, or the lack of feature actually. Many business people have lost files and documents and can't find them. Google claims they will be somewhere in their ALL MAIL file and they might be, but looking and finding them is next to impossible. Why not simply use the file system that everone else uses? Had I not had 140 emails in one group that I have and send emails to, the best thing would have been to start fresh using Outlook or Hotmail or some other provider. Once you place an email in one of those files with them, it stays there forever regardless of what you do with it elsewhere. For that reason alone, I dislike GMail with a passion, and would use the hate-word which I don't like to use. OK, I'll use it, I hate GMail.
