OTC makes a tool to attach to the sender wire, they work like a sender and you can check the gauge. Deere and Ford car dealers had them, so if you know anybody that works there? Its a 6X8 box with five reostats of different resistances to check gauges out. Got one off of ebay a few years ago. Best to replace both components when doing the repair. Make sure the plug in on the back of the gauge cluster is plugged in and taped. Not one of Deeres better ideas.
