2002 Honda Accord 2.0 SOHC timing belt job. Its a straight forward job with a few unusual procedures.
Stripped down
I had started putting it back, the black cover is a deflector if the top cam seal leaks its has a trough that keeps the oil off the belt and feeds it out the back of the head right on the head gasket. This has sent folks putting head gaskets on them for a oil leak : (
Cool tool for removing and replacing the seals
You figure the combination need this was the combination for the cam seal
in action
Crank seal install
Honda has problem with the balance shaft blowing out they came up with a retainer someone had already BTDT. I keep one in stock I may own it till I die.
Another deal that has got folks in big trouble. The cam seal and balance shaft seal are so close in size you can install them in the wrong place. The I.D. is the same the O.D is not. Yes they will fit in either hole if you swap'em you will have a leaker.
Top view I did not show how to time the rear balance shaft don't forget about that.
Bottom view, don't forget to remove the lock bolt you used to lock the timing belt tensioner. I have woke up at night wondering that.
