John,,, being a KUBOTA dealer for years I have seen it all , but in short Hamilton below has it right the seal is not designed for reverse flow , now could you do it and get buy I suppose so but might be iffy. I have ever kind of hose and housings here but the small one you have there is what the engine takes some flex radiator hose might be your answer.
