If you get a WIX or NAPA style fuel filter (solid top, has a groove about 3/16" wide, with 4 slots in it, just inside the filter's top rim), watch assembly carefully. They are normally package with 3 gaskets to cover several housings, not all housings use three gaskets, so you may have more than needed. Do not put a gasket in the groove in the top of the element. The gasket goes up inside a groove in the filter head. Use a bit of grease to hold the new one in place after removing the old one. A gasket in the groove of the element blocks the fuel flow. Some brands have holes in the top instead of the groove. The gasket belongs in the housing head for all styles.
