The problem with using dealerships for non warranty diagnostic work is it puts the mechanic on the hour where he makes somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2 what he makes when working on flat rate. The best mechanics are usually the highest seniority and refuse the work so it goes to the shop newbie who is non too happy about being on the hour and is the least knowledgeable in the shop,, need I say more?
If you can't find it yourself check around for a good independant shop.
A quick check for a common issue is to disconnect the alternator, if the drain goes away replace it.
