Look down on the right side behind the battery for a pin through the vertical shaft some times they will break or work out. It will still move the linkage but not push the rest of it to go into gear. I put double roll pins in there about 1-1/4-1-1/2 inches then put a wire through the hole to hold them from working out. IF that is good then look up from the bottom and see if your throw out bearing is good. I had one that just went to pieces with the balls laying in the bottom. A split was in order.
