All I can tell ya at this time if the trans has to come out replace the rear engine cover. The cover from GM comes with the cover as a unit. It has the rear main seal installed in the cover it has a new gasket and all new bolts the cover gasket leaks and a know issue on them. I would also install a new oil pressure sending unit and clean all the grounds on the back of the engine while I had the trans out.
