No hydraulic cylinders. no hoses, just a simple design that works for me to pick up rocks. logs, brush pile, large pieces of concrete. Cheap to build. Doesn't get on way when digging a trench or digging out a stump.
Takes 4 bolts, weld 4 pieces of angle iron. 2 piece of 8 or 9 inch channel.
The finger nails have problems holding up to the intense force created by curling the back bucket. 8000# if I recall.
Took some experimeting to get location on boon and length figured out. I have no desire to make an articulating thumb. Did I mention Cheap? All made from used rusty iron and leftover paint.
The angle iron welded to channel works better than bolts alone.
