There are ways to get around the problem of the return. Most obvious would be a block off plate for where the original valve hangs with a bung welded in it to accept the return hose from a generic valve. Use a thick enough plate and you can just drill and thread the fitting directly into the plate.
That's exactly what I plan to do with mine. Plus move the new valve to the right side, I find it awkward to use on the left side.
