A parked regen can only be done if the system requires it. I retired 6 1/2 yrs ago and can not remember what light would come on to tell you to do a regen. If it needs regen and cannot do it on it's own, it is supposed to tell you via a warning light. If it needs a regen and does not get it, it will/should go into limp mode/idle only mode. Your owners manual should explain this. I was truck tech and this system came along just a few yrs before I retired, so I did not get a lifetime of experience on this system, and may forget a few details, and have not worked around any 'newer' stuff since. No offense intended, but you may need another JD. tech to diagnose this, not everyone completely understands everything about these systems. You really need to know the science behind how they are intended to work, especially when they have re occurring problems. With the diagnostic laptop, a tech can do a forced regen anytime. We did this a lot of times to verify the filter was clean. A system that has DEF in addition to a DPF, usually had less trouble needing regens, but more trouble with the DEF side of the system.
