I am the same way. Buy cheap knowing it will need repair. But in the end I think it cost about the same to buy a real good one or to fix one up slowly. I have taken 2 different high hour John Deere 3020 diesels and rebulit the engines and then installed them in very low hour gas tractors. I have a 4020 that I am going to do the same thing to next winter. Some day someone is going to look at some serial numbers and scratch their heads as to what happened as I change everything over.
